As the year draws to a close, we’re proud to share the latest quarterly edition of our Research Newsletter, a special one marking both new beginnings and lasting impact.
This edition is the first from our new Director of Research and Innovation, Associate Professor Tam Nguyen, who reflects on the incredible breadth of discovery and collaboration happening across our health service and looks ahead to an exciting new chapter.
‘Every day, our teams push the boundaries of discovery, translating ideas at the bench and bedside into better outcomes for patients and communities,’ said A/Prof Nguyen.
‘My vision is to harness that collective strength and connect our clinicians, scientists, and academic and industry partners so that the breakthroughs created here reach further and change more lives.’
Inside this issue, you’ll find stories that highlight the depth and diversity of research shaping patient care today and tomorrow:
a cardiologist awarded a state grant to identify heart risks in women using routine mammograms
the endocrinology team driving global change in how high blood pressure is assessed
recruitment now open for a world-first clinical trial exploring new treatment options for hyperemesis gravidarum
a look at how our teams are advancing neuroprotection for preterm babies
pioneering a Victorian-first infusion therapy for Parkinson’s disease.
This final issue of the year is a celebration of curiosity, collaboration, and care, and a reminder that world-leading research begins here, in our wards, clinics, and laboratories.
