Book Week at Monash Children’s Hospital was a celebration bursting with colour, creativity, and joy!
Beloved literary characters leapt off the page into our space, much to the delight of our patients and their families.
As reported by 9News, there were enchanting book readings and themed craft activities, as well as lively musical performances and face painting.
An encounter with real butterflies added to the magic of the occasion.
‘We had lots of children and families coming into the hospital for therapy and specialist appointments and they did not expect this! They just came in with smiles on their faces,’ said the principal of Monash Children’s Hospital School, Colin Dobson.
There were free books and costumes for the children, kindly donated by Amazon.
Players Theatre Company performed songs from the Disney musical Frozen, and a patient, Ruby, sang and played guitar.
The fun extended onto the wards, with staff dressed up there too.
‘Book Week is one of our favourite weeks of the year. It brings curiosity and imagination to life!’ said Colin.
