Professor Helena Teede AM takes helm at the International Society of Endocrinology

Congratulations to Monash Health Endocrinologist Professor Helena Teede AM who has been appointed President of the International Society of Endocrinology (ISE), as of January 2025.

Professor Teede, who also serves as the Director of the Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation (MCHRI), a partnership between Monash Health and Monash University based at the Monash Medical Centre, is set to lead ISE with a vision of expanding its impact through enhanced collaboration and integration across endocrine organisations and regions.

ISE, an organisation dedicated to optimising life-long health for individuals with endocrine and metabolic disorders worldwide, plays a pivotal role in delivering education and upskilling health professionals globally.

At a recent international ISE event in India, Professor Teede addressed over 4,000 health professionals on diabetes and practice, underscoring the society’s commitment to global health education.

With a significant portion of the global population, including many Australian migrants and Monash Health patients, originally from India, the understanding of high prevalence of diabetes and metabolic health conditions in this population is particularly pertinent.

ISE collaborates with over 80 national and regional societies, reaching more than 50,000 health professionals globally. It represents a diverse community of clinicians, researchers, academics, nurses, dieticians, and other allied health professionals active in the field of endocrinology.

Professor Teede’s leadership is expected to further solidify Australian Endocrinology’s position as a world leader in supporting endocrine practice and research.
