There was a sprinkling of Blues magic at Monash Children’s Hospital on Monday, with four Carlton Football Club players hand-delivering Christmas gifts to children on Aviary and Forest wards.
Over 25 members of the AFL team donated presents for newborns through to teenagers, with players Marc Pittonet, Rob Monahan, Lewis Young and Sam Durdin dropping in to handball them to patients.
Accompanied by mascot Navy Nina, the players chatted with patients, their families and staff while handing out cuddly toys, Lego, books, wooden toys, candy canes and more.
“It’s uplifting for the kids, especially this time of year,” said Mark Wolfenden, whose son Raph is receiving care at Monash Children’s Hospital.
“It meant a lot to Raph to see these guys. And they nailed the present!”
