Taking Pride in Care at Midsumma

Monash Health employees enjoyed a beautiful day out in St Kilda on Sunday 5 February marching to show our Pride in Care at Midsumma Pride March.

Denise Owen, Chair of the LGTBIQA+ Committee and organizer of our march appearance, has since shrugged off the rainbow tutu, but not her allyship. She’s holding on to that with Pride.

“I am so incredibly proud to have been a part of Monash Health’s first representation in the Melbourne Pride March. It is so incredibly important to demonstrate our support of the rainbow community because it really does make a difference to a great number of our employees, patients, and community members.”

Chief Medical Officer and Co-Chair of our Gender Subcommittee, Associate Professor, Anjali Dhulia, joined the march with her pup Pinot in tow, donning a bright orange shirt and keeping employees in the assembly area challenged by requesting a human rainbow behind our banner.

It was a beautiful day to be at Midsumma, spending time with so many of you while we waited to march. I’m proud to have been there with you all, while you showcased the pride in the work we do and how we celebrate and support the LGBTIQA+ community at Monash Health, and in each other, on such a joyous occasion!”
