Monash Health pharmacist recognised with national award for advancing pharmacy services

Monash Health’s Megan Clark has been named the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) 2021 Early Career Pharmacist of the Year.

This was announced as part of the SHPA 2021 Member’s Awards, which recognises hospital pharmacists and technicians’ achievements in improving pharmacy services.

The award celebrates Ms Clark’s commitment to advancing pharmacy services within neonatal, paediatric and maternity services and her achievements in pharmacy. Her extensive work includes developing national and international guidelines, her efforts as a Teaching Associate at Monash University and the development of the Newborn Emergency Medication Book.

Ms Clark said, “It’s an honour to have my work recognised, not only by my workplace but also by the national society and my peers across Australia.”

Ms Clark has been a pharmacist at Monash Health for nine years and has worked with Monash Newborn for 4 of these years. Over the last 18 months, she has implemented the clinical pharmacy service for women with high-risk pregnancies in the maternity ward and birth suite at Monash Medical Centre.

“This accomplishment is not something I could have achieved alone, and I’d like to thank a few key people who have supported me. Each, individually, has empowered me by providing guidance, opportunities to lead improvements to our clinical pharmacy service, and encouraged me while taking part in larger projects,” said Ms Clark.

Congratulations to Ms Clark for this incredible achievement.
