When Jussahra asked her eight-year-old son Lukas if he’d like to do some drawing to fill in time during the school holidays, neither of them expected Lukas’ creation would be on billboards around Australia just a few weeks later.
Media company QMS asked children to submit their teddy bear drawings to thank Australia’s healthcare workers, and there was one special employee at Monash Health Lukas wanted to thank in particular.
Lukas’ grandmother, ‘Nanny’ Diane Treagus, a Theatre Nurse at Monash Health’s Moorabbin Campus for over 40 years, was just as thrilled to see Lukas’ drawing up in lights as he was.
No stranger to Monash Health himself, Lukas was born at Monash Medical Centre, has been a patient with the orthopaedic team, and has had two surgeries at Dandenong Hospital for a complex broken arm.
Thanks, Lukas, and to all of the members of our community supporting our healthcare workers through this challenging time.
