Changes to Monash Medical Centre’s emergency department

We’re building you a bigger, better emergency department at Monash Medical Centre.

From tomorrow morning Monash Medical Centre’s emergency department pedestrian entry, triage, and waiting areas will be temporarily relocated.

For pedestrians arriving at Monash Medical Centre from 7am, the emergency department will instead be accessed via the hospital’s main entry, approximately 30m to the right of the previous entry.

This will allow the current triage and waiting areas to be prepared for the next stages of the emergency department redevelopment.

The project will deliver a much bigger adult emergency department, a brand-new children’s emergency department, and a separate ‘crisis hub’ for complex mental health, drug, or alcohol-related emergency presentations.

“The main entry to Monash Medical Centre off Clayton Road is a busy space, and we’re thankful for the understanding of our community during recent changes,” said Dr Rachel Rosler, Director of Emergency Medicine.

“These crucial upgrades will give us the facilities we need to better deliver emergency care for critically ill or injured patients.”
