After a successful co-design and pilot of the Nutrition Resource Pack (NRP), we are excited to share the launch of the resources.
What’s Inside the NRP?
The NRP offers a variety of engaging, play-based food education activities for children under five years of age, providing opportunities to explore food in a fun and non-pressured environment. These activities encourage children to use their senses and participate in familiarisation experiences to help them develop a lifelong love of vegetables and fruit.
Key components include:
- Educator handbook – a guide to understanding the principles behind NRP and how to talk about food in a neutral, supportive way
- Fact Sheets & Posters – ready-to-use materials for service use and to share with families
- Delicious Recipes – simple, child-friendly recipes to encourage food exploration at home and in the service.
Supporting Educators
To ensure educators feel confident using the NRP, all future participating services will begin their journey with a dedicated workshop. These sessions will focus on:
- Neutral food language
- Creating positive food experiences
- Practical tips to embed food education into everyday routines.
Growing Impact
Currently, 24 early years services have received an NRP and are embedding food education into their service curriculum. Plans are underway for a broader rollout, so stay tuned for updates.
