Riding horses—especially show jumping—has always been my favourite way to stay active. But after becoming a mum, finding the time for such a time-consuming sport became tough. So, I turned to jogging. It’s simple, flexible, and fits into my new rhythm of life.
At first, I committed to one day per week and mixed it up with jogging and walking. Then, I slowly built that up to two days per week. This may seem small to anyone else, but it’s the only way I guarantee I will commit to it on an ongoing basis.
I don’t naturally enjoy running, but I always remind myself of how I feel after the run. I feel calmer, more focused, and more importantly, I sleep better at night. It gets rid of that excess energy and gives me clarity. Who knows, maybe one day it will become a more integral part of my life, but for now, I am content with what I can achieve.
