Sharing personal stories: Maureen finds Aqua exercise a great way of keeping fit for older people

Being active is important, but finding the time or motivation can be challenging. That’s why real stories matter—by sharing how, where, and why we move, we can inspire others to take that first step toward a more active lifestyle.

Maureen, 77, moved to Pakenham some 10 years ago. She knew no one, so she joined the aqua exercise group here at Cardina Life

Maureen met Irene and became friends. These two friends, Maureen and Irene, now organise and run the social groups at Cardinia Life. They organise monthly morning teas, lunches, shows, and outings, as well as the weekly Heart Foundation walking group.

“Joining Cardina Life has given me a great social circle and has become my favourite way to stay fit and socialise. Aqua exercise is a great way of keeping fit for older people. Together with the walking group, it keeps me very active.” Maureen.

Advice from Maureen to someone wanting to start an activity:

“Find out what you enjoy doing, such as Swimming, walking, dancing, etc., and find a way to convert it into regular exercise. Don’t do something to keep fit—you must enjoy it. Find like-minded people to join you”. Maureen.

Maureen’s story is a true inspiration, proving it’s never too late to stay active and make new connections. To learn more about the social activities Maureen organises, just chat with one of our friendly team members at the front desk.
