Pearcedale Daycare & Kinder (D&K) is committed to the safety and wellbeing of every child in their care.
In 2023, the service joined the Achievement Program, taking a whole-of-service approach to embedding health and wellbeing into their daily practices and curriculum. As part of this commitment, Pearcedale D&K is working towards meeting best practice standards in the priority area of Physical Activity and Movement, focusing on road safety education.
Throughout Term 1, 2025, educators have delivered classroom road safety education, helping children learn about staying safe in their community. Educators use play-based learning to introduce key road safety messages, encouraging children to expand their thinking and problem-solving through everyday activities.
Hayley, Centre Director, shared, “We take a whole-of-service approach to embedding road safety education by ensuring it is an evidence-based program incorporated within our service policies and materials shared with children and families relating to road safety are culturally relevant to meet the needs of our families.”
The service has also benefited from the City of Casey’s Safe Around Schools initiative, which provided practical resources to support educators and families. Hayley added, “The road safety resources from the City of Casey have been really helpful in sharing with families and children.”
Pearcedale D&K recently received signage to amplify these efforts from the City of Casey, which recently partnered with The Little Blue Dinosaur Foundation. The signage promotes messages such as “Hold My Hand” and “Slow Down—Kids Around”. It ensures families continue receiving vital messages in the hopes of keeping all our children safe.
Pearcedale D&K remains committed to prioritising health and wellbeing, and continues to work closely with our Health Promotion Team at Monash Health to access resources and support that strengthen their community’s wellbeing.
