Myuna Farm, a working community and children’s farm in Doveton has completed The Alternate Leisure Initiative’s Healthy Eating health area.
The team at Myuna Farm completed 12 actions to improve further the organisation’s practices in healthy eating for visitors. Throughout the initiative, we also partnered to deliver healthy eating workshops for children and families during school holidays.
Other changes that Myuna Farm have made to embed healthy eating practices include:
- Incorporating healthy eating components into their excursion lesson plans and programs for early learning services and schools who visit the farm
- Developing a resource of culturally appropriate recipes based on fruits and vegetables grown in the community garden
- Creating healthy eating resources, such as party and excursion food idea handouts, available online
- Displaying healthy eating resources and tap water reminders around the farm.
Congratulations to Myuna Farm on their hard work creating healthy changes that benefit everyone visiting the farm.
