Can I renew my books online?

Yes. Registered borrowers can renew loans via the library catalogue by clicking on the ‘Sign in’ link in the top left hand corner. Enter your Library borrowing barcode which is on the back of your Monash Health ID (beginning with 2000…) and the password you created.


How many times can I renew my book?

Loans may be renewed twice, providing staff with six weeks in total and students with three weeks in total.


Can books be returned to any Monash Health Campus?

Yes. There are return chutes at our libraries at Monash Medical Centre, Casey Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, Moorabbin Hospital and Kingston Centre.

How can I access eBooks?

Access is via A Monash Health staff login is required for full access.

You will be able to download (and print if needed) book chapters by accessing PDFs. Please note that mobile apps are available for online reading with McGraw Hill and Elsevier. You will also need to set up an individual login and remote access for Elsevier books through ClinicalKey or ClinicalKey for nursing.

Do you offer staff training?

Customised group or individual training on our resources is available. Contact us on to arrange a time or to be added to our weekly Newsletter for upcoming training sessions and helpful information.


Does the Library have after-hours access?

Monash Health staff may utilise 24 hour access to our libraries by using their swipe cards.


Can I book meeting rooms in the Library?

Meeting rooms are available in our Casey and Clayton sites. They may be booked by staff through Outlook Calendar. Include “Library, Clayton – Meeting Room” or “Library, Casey – Meeting Room” in your meeting invite.


Can I access Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel in the library?

Yes, access is also provided to EndNote and SPSS Statistics software.


Can registered members of CAVAL borrow directly from your libraries?

No, our libraries are hospital not university libraries and for that reason borrowing by CAVAL members is not permitted. Aside from hospital staff only Monash University medical and post-graduate students can borrow from our collection.
