The Monash Health Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

In 2019, Monash Health will move to an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, meaning we will replace handwritten, paper-based medical records with electronic ones.

The introduction of an EMR is a fundamental step towards improved patient safety and care at Monash Health. It means our health care team will have access to accurate and up-to-date information about patients. It will improve communication between doctors, nurses, pharmacists, allied health professionals, and importantly, our patients.

The Monash Health EMR rollout is scheduled to commence in May 2019. We look forward to sharing further updates during March and April 2019.

Some patients have asked if the Monash Health EMR is the same as My Health Record. The answer is ‘no’, they are entirely different systems. My Health Record is an Australian Government initiative. The Monash Health EMR is a clinical system which only authorised staff at Monash Health will have access to.
