Monash Health is Victoria’s largest maternity service provider with around 9000 births across 3 sites in 2018. Student placements cover a variety of settings across the continuum, all 3 sites (Clayton including Jessie McPherson Private hospital, Dandenong and Casey) are utilised providing a range of clinical experiences from primary maternity through to high risk models of care.
Students will work within a multidisciplinary framework caring for women throughout their pregnancy, birth, postnatal and home visits. Care is also provided for women and babies who experience complex health issues.
The course is 18 months in duration, over three trimesters of study and successful applicants are offered a part time employment contract. Supernumerary shifts will also be required to meet clinical requirements. Further employment opportunities may be available on course completion.

One full day orientation to Monash Health is provided, with site specific orientation also provided by Midwifery Educators.
Supernumerary time is available at the beginning of each initial rotation as well as the clinical midwifery education team are available to ensure you are supported while employed.
Registration with the AHPRA as a Registered Nurse with current practicing certificate.
Minimum of 12 months acute nursing experience.
Has applied to Deakin University for the course.
Satisfactory references and pre entrance interview.
