Our Placement Coordinator will take the time to understand your needs and preferences, working with you to create a personalised care plan that evolves as your circumstances change. If you would like to find out which of our homes is right for you, call us on (03) 9265 1784.

Fees and charges

A resident moving into an aged care home from 1 July 2014 can be asked to pay a basic fee, a means tested care fee based on assets and income or an accommodation payment.

Basic fee

All residents entering an aged care facility will be required to pay a basic daily care fee. This is an amount set by the Commonwealth Government and is currently 85% of the single aged pension which is $63.82 per day. The fee is increased in March and September each year, in line with pension increases. For some, this is the only fee they need to pay.

Means tested fee

The Commonwealth Government requires all residents to complete a Means Tested Assessment to determine their potential to pay towards their care beyond the basic daily care fee. This is known as a means-tested fee and is assessed by the Department of Human Services based on a resident’s combined asset and income assessment. No resident will pay more than they can afford.

Accommodation payment

There are two types of payments:

  • Refundable Accommodation Deposit or RAD: this is a lump sum.
  • Daily Accommodation Payment or DAP: this is a daily charge, essentially an interest payment on the equivalent lump sum RAD.

Residents who are deemed to have the capacity to pay for their accommodation will be required to via an appropriate Accommodation Payment. All Residents with assets above $61,500 will be assessed on this.
