Contact with Clinical Agencies

Once the AHA Student Coordinator has advised you of your placement site and their contact details, you are expected to email your allocated site coordinator(s) at least one week prior to commencing placement.

Clinical Placement Hours

Clinical placement hours will vary between sites and should be discussed when you contact your placement site prior to commencing clinical placement.

Lunch breaks/morning tea breaks will vary between sites and should be discussed with your clinical educator. You will receive a timetable on the first day of your placement.

Uniform

You are expected to wear your education provider’s uniform, closed toe shoes and smart-casual pants.

Your student ID badge must be worn and clearly visible at all times.

Discipline services available at each site

At Monash Health, we have both interdisciplinary and discipline-specific allied health assistants who work with the following health professionals:

  • Dietitians
  • Occupational therapists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Podiatrists
  • Social workers
  • Speech pathologists

You will likely be exposed to a range of professions during placement.

Preparation for clinical placements

Please ensure you complete the AHA student pre-placement questionnaire at least two weeks prior to commencing placement: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AHAstudentpreplacementqtnaire

Ensure all mandatory training requirements have been completed and returned to AHAStudentCoordinator@monashhealth.org by the due dates outlined in your student orientation manual.

Please review your medical terminology and abbreviations prior to beginning placement.
