4. What You Need To Do Now
Students must complete the following training or credentialling prior to clinical placement:
Hand Hygiene Certification
All students must complete the Hand Hygiene Certification package. The Hand Hygiene completion certificate must be brought to every clinical shift and the supervisor or educator may ask to see it.
Once you click on the 'Hand Hygiene Certification' link above, follow the instructions below:
1. Click on 'Start'
2. Register a new account if you are a new user
3. Select the 'student' option for registration
4. Select Monash Health for the organisation
5. The learning package you need to select is Student Health Practitioners online learning.
Fire Safety Training and I-Belong
I-Belong is a learning package that provides a clear understanding of the Federal and state Acts and organisational procedures that guide the behaviour standard that is required of a student at Monash Health.
Fire Safety Training is a learning package that provides students with a basic knowledge of Monash Health emergency policies and procedures.
Students are required to complete both I-Belong and Fire Safety Training prior to commencement of clinical placement at Monash Health. Access to both packages requires a log-in and is available via Monash Health Learning - please choose the 'Register New Account' option. Please ensure that you print a completion certificate for both packages and bring the certificate to every shift.
National Police Record
All students must hold a National Police Record that is no more than 12 months old. Students with a disclosable outcome such as a conviction or charge must discuss the outcome with their education provider prior to commencement of placement. Not all offenses will result in exclusion from placement, however placement requirements will need to be reviewed and students will be informed accordingly regarding eligibility to undertake clinical placement. The National Police Record must be brought to every clinical shift and the supervisor or educator may ask to see it.
Working with Children Check
All students must hold a current Working with Children Check. A disclosable offense on the Working with Children Check must be discussed with the education provider prior to placement as not all offenses will result in exclusion from placement. The Working with Children Check identification card must be brought to each clinical shift and the supervisor or educator may ask to see it.
Statement by Student on Clinical Placement
Patient information is strictly confidential and privacy must be maintained at all times. All students must comply with Monash Health policies and procedures, ensure Immunisation Status is documented, and provide evidence of any restrictions to their professional practice, or relevant police matters. Please complete and print a copy of the Statement by Student on Clinical Placement document. The supervisor or educator will advise students if they require a copy of the completed document.
Safety of patients, staff and students is of utmost priority. On the first first day of placement students will need to complete the Workplace Orientation Questionnaire so that they can orientate themselves to the clinical placement environment, locate emergency equipment, and know the fire and evacuation plan. Please print a copy and bring it to the first day of placement for completion. The supervisor or educator will advise students if they would like a copy of the completed document.
All students must bring a copy of Immunisation Status documents to every clinical shift. The supervisor or educator may ask to see it.
