It is a Monash Health expectation that clinicians do not undertake clinical procedures until appropriately credentialed.
Obstetric trainees are provided with a ‘Monash Women’s -in house obstetric credentialing’ form which outlines all competencies that they are expected to achieve during their traineeship.
Midwives are provided with the midwifery orientation – competencies and education matrix which provides a summary of the competencies and education requirements pertinent to midwives for each specific area of practice.
The maternity clinical competencies background must be read in conjunction with the above and each individual health professional position description and scope of practice. Each competency has and associated PROMPT tool outlining the process and requirements that need to be satisfied before competency is recognised.
