Description of the services YADS clinics’ are multidisciplinary clinics staffed by both paediatric and adult consultant endocrinologists and diabetes nurse educators, a dietician and a social worker, and provides Point of Care HbA1C measurements. Fifteen year olds with diabetes are transferred from the MMC Paediatric Diabetes clinic to YADS, and are initially continued to be managed by the same paediatric consultant.

At the age of 18 – 19 years, over a period of 6 – 12 months the teenagers are prepared for transition to one of the YADS adult consultants, with continuity of consultant care maintained.

This clinic DOES NOT provide services for Non insulin dependent type 2 diabetes

Cost No charge for Medicare card holder, Veteran Affairs, TAC or Work cover patients
A charge does apply for Patients ineligible for Medicare

  • Referrals must conform to the Referring Guidelines
  • Urgent referrals can be discussed with the Registrar by calling 9594 4342 after which a written referral must be completed with details of this discussion.
