We’d like to reassure all Monash Medical Centre and Casey Hospital patients, families and visitors that while works are underway to replace all non-compliant external cladding, there will be no disruption felt.
A government review has identified a number of hospitals with non-compliant cladding, including sections at Casey Hospital and Monash Medical Centre.
Please be assured that these buildings are safe to occupy.
Expert fire engineers have inspected the buildings and recommended a program of works. They have independently assessed the buildings and determined they are safe to occupy.
We have already implemented measures to reduce risk, such as adding additional sprinkler systems, and plans are already underway to replace all non-compliant cladding.
Like all Victorian hospital buildings, these buildings have sprinkler systems that are monitored and checked frequently, and fire alarm systems that generate immediate response from the Metropolitan Fire Brigade.
