The Transition to Specialty Program offers:

A professional nurturing program, which offers specific educational preparation in the area of emergency nursing of both adult and paediatric patients. The TSP is aimed at supporting nurses with little or no experience in emergency nursing, with the underlying premise that they will be provided with specific educational preparation and clinical support in a friendly and supportive working and learning environment. The structured program encompasses the development of skills which are fundamental to the emergency nurse, focusing on enabling the student to develop proficiency in assessment and management of emergency patients. The participant will develop skills in prioritisation and time management, whilst maintaining a structured approach to patient assessment and making clinical decision making. Participants are given six paid study days as well as clinical and educational support from Nurse Educators with attention to individual learning needs. The program consists of six months employment in the Emergency Department with the opportunity for ongoing employment.
